SignalVerge Privacy Policy

Effective date: 19 October 2026
App: SignalVerge (Android)
Developer/contact: SignalVerge — SignalVergeApp@gmail.com

Summary

SignalVerge is a wireless observation and troubleshooting utility. It reads nearby Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals and supported local-network service announcements with the Android permissions you grant. Its current release stores your observations locally on your device, does not contain an advertising or analytics SDK, and does not automatically upload your scan history to a developer-operated server. You control when to export or share records.

Information the app accesses and stores

Depending on your device, permissions and scan settings, records may include Bluetooth device identifiers and advertised names, manufacturer codes, advertised services, Wi-Fi network names (SSIDs), access-point identifiers (BSSIDs), frequencies, security information, signal strength (RSSI), local-network service names, scan dates/times and counts. You can also save your own location names, device labels and notes. Wireless identifiers and network names can reveal information about people, devices or places. User-entered location labels are not GPS measurements, but may be sensitive.

Location and permissions

Android may require Precise Location permission and the phone's Location setting to return Wi-Fi scan results. The current SignalVerge release does not request GPS coordinates or store GPS position fixes. Nevertheless, Wi-Fi access-point identifiers and other wireless observations may allow inferences about approximate location. Nearby Devices/Bluetooth permissions allow Bluetooth scanning. Wi-Fi/network permissions support Wi-Fi scanning and local service discovery. Notification permission is optional and is used for watched-identifier alerts during manual scans. This release does not provide continuous background monitoring.

How information is used

Observed information is used on your device to display nearby signals, approximate received signal strength, manual scan sessions, comparisons, labels, notes, and local reports. Received signal strength does not establish a device's direction or exact distance, and names or identifiers do not establish ownership or surveillance.

Storage, security and retention

Scan history, labels and notes are kept in app-private storage on your Android device, subject to Android's device and app security controls. The app disables Android application backup. Records remain until you delete them using the app's controls, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. The in-app “Erase observations” command deletes recorded devices and scan sessions but retains user-created location names; clearing app storage removes those too. User-created export files, copies saved elsewhere and records shared with another service are outside the app's control and are not erased by these actions. Temporary share files may remain in the app's private cache until Android or the app clears them.

Exports and optional sharing

Exports and shares occur only when you choose them. JSON, CSV, PDF and ZIP reports can contain network/device identifiers, timestamps, labels, notes and location names. A separately labeled redacted summary omits raw identifiers and labels, but includes dates and counts that may still be sensitive. When you share a file with another app or service, that recipient's privacy practices apply. Please review files before sharing.

Optional external search and support

If you select “Look up model,” SignalVerge opens your browser with a search query based on the advertised manufacturer/device-name text. The app does not deliberately add MAC/Bluetooth addresses, your saved scan history or your location label to this query. The browser and search provider may process that query under their own privacy policies. If you email support, the email service processes whatever message and attachments you voluntarily send; the app does not attach scan records automatically.

Data sent to the developer

The current Android app does not automatically transmit scan history, wireless identifiers, saved labels or notes to SignalVerge's developer and does not include a developer-run user account or analytics service. Support correspondence is received only if you initiate contact. The developer retains support correspondence as needed to respond to your request, subject to the email provider's controls; request deletion of your support correspondence at the contact address below.

Children

SignalVerge is a technical utility intended for general adult use and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices or included services change, this policy will be updated, with the effective date revised. Material changes may also be explained in the app or its store listing.
